This could be a great car for someone... these are beautiful in my opinion and this one looks to be in good cosmetic condition. For the money, you could do a lot worse. But then, who knows what’s really wrong with it?

The owner says, “sprung a coolant leak... I think the coolant leaked onto one of the 02 sensors so it runs rough...” Right. I’m not a BMW Master Technician, but I’m pretty sure coolant doesn’t typically come anywhere near the 02 sensors. Still, $1000 or less for the best looking wagon made in the last 20 years? Yeah probably still CP.

Coolant on the O2 sensor? I bet the coolant leak is on the inside of the engine. Head gasket, cracked block, cracked head.

I usually assume the worst though.

Indeed. Probably trying to recoup some of the cost of replacing “two main wire harnesses” (??) That doesn’t sound cheap.

I just wonder, how does he know it has coolant on it? And “sprung a leak” to me implies it’s leaking visibly. Anyway... he’s sick of it clearly, and it’s otherwise a nice car. If only it was manual... that would help a lot.
